Cabbage and Noodles with Smoked Sausage
Ingredients
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil, divided
  • 12 oz. fully cooked smoked sausage (such as kielbasa [Polish sausage], andouille sausage, or linguiça), cut into ½-in. rounds
  • 2 medium-size red, yellow, and/or orange bell peppers, cut into thin strips (about 3 cups)
  • 1 medium-size yellow onion, cut into thin strips (about 2 cups)
  • 1 (1- lb.) head savoy cabbage, very thinly sliced (about 8 cups)
  • 4 l arge garlic cloves, thinly sliced (about 2 Tbsp.)
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt, plus more to taste
  • ½ tsp. black pepper, plus more to taste
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • ½ tsp. crushed red pepper or to taste
  • 1 (8-oz.) pkg. wide egg noodles
  • ¼ cup loosely packed fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced
