I used to make these for my kids in the ‘70s and ‘80s. They liked them better than the marshmallow ones.

Servings: 24 2x2 squares

Servings: 24 2x2 squares
Ingredients
  • ¾ cup corn syrup
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¾ cup peanut butter
  • 6 cups rice cereal
Steps
  1. In large saucepan, combine corn syrup and brown sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until mixture bubbles.
  2. Remove from heat and add peanut butter, stirring until well mixed.
  3. Stir in rice cereal, a cup at a time until the cereal is well coated with the peanut butter mixture.
  4. Dump the rice mixture onto a buttered 13x9x12 pan and with a buttered spatula, spread it out and press it down.
  5. When cool, cut into squares.*
Notes
  • *If you want to cut into shapes with cookie cutters, use two smaller pans so bars are thinner.
