Tomato and Red Pepper Shrimp Bisque

  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (with
  • juices)
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup chicken or seafood broth
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional,
  • subheading: for heat):
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil or parsley,
  • chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
