Cheese Dots
Amazing savory appetizer. My great-grandmother's recipe, and always required at family gatherings.

Ingredients
  • ½ c softened butter
  • 1 c grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 c flour
  • ¼ t red pepper
  • 1 c Rice Krispies cereal
  • salt
Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Cream butter, cheese, and pepper together.
  3. Use hands to knead in flour, then Rice Krispies. The mix will be dry, but you should be able to press it into small balls. Do not add Rice Krispies until just before baking, or the dots will be soggy.
  4. Roll into balls (about a heaping tablespoon in size) and place on greased cookie sheet. Press down lightly with a finger to flatten slightly, as balls will not expand much.
  5. Sprinkle lightly with salt, then bake 25 minutes until crispy and golden. Serve as appetizer.
