Turkey Sausage Balls
These yummy turkey sausage balls are my new favorite snack/breakfast food! They're based on a similar recipe for pork sausage balls. My friends and family give them a 5-star rating.

Servings: 36 balls

Servings: 36 balls
Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground turkey sausage
  • 2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Montreal steak seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds, crushed (Optional) or aleppo pepper
  • 2 cups baking mix (such as Bisquick®)
Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix sausage, Cheddar, steak seasoning, and fennel seeds together by hand in a large bowl. Mix in ½ of the baking mix until thoroughly incorporated; repeat with remaining baking mix. Roll 1-tablespoon portions of mixture into balls. Place onto the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until browned, 20 to 25 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
Notes
  • 9/24/23 Notes: Aleppo pepper flakes instead of fennel. 25 minutes at 375 was about perfect, but could have gone a few minues less. Salt after removing from oven.
  • Dijon mustard sauce:
  • ½ cup Mayonnaise (or yogurt or sour cream)
  • 3 Tablespoons Dijon Mustard (I like to use half stone-ground and half smooth mustard, but any variety will work)
  • 2 teaspoons Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice (see note)
  • 1 clove Garlic, grated sub ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Black Pepper (optional; add a few cracks of black pepper for flavor)
  • Instructions
  • Combine all ingredients. Whisk until smooth.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
  • Sriracha mayo sauce:
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 Tablespoons Sriracha, more or less to taste
  • 2 teaspoons lime or lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (don’t use garlic salt or it will be too salty)
  • Instructions
  • Combine all ingredients. Whisk until smooth.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
  • From Allrecipes:
  • These were just delicious. I made one small change...added a Tbsp red pepper flakes in place of fennel. We always add Montreal Steak Seasoning to our turkey burgers, but never thought of it on sausage. Added flavor is awesome!
