  • ½ cup low-sodium beef or chicken broth
  • ¼ cup distilled white vinegar
  • 3 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 10 fresh sage leaves
  • Fresh horseradish root or prepared horseradish, for serving (optional)
  • Crusty sourdough bread, for serving (optional)
