  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cayenne
  • 1 to 2 bay leaves, preferably Turkish Bay Leaves
  • 1 to 1 ½ teaspoons salt (to taste)
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 3 ½ cups (28 ounces) water, or chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 cups (16 ounces) frozen peas
