Southern Lemon Pound Cake (From Scratch)
Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter-flavored shortening
  • 2 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 5 eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons pure lemon extract
  • 5.3 oz lemon yogurt
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • zest of 2 lemons
  • Juice of 3 lemons
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • subheading: LEMON SIMPLE SYRUP:
  • ½ cup boiling water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 Tablespoon lemon juice can more if you want more tartness
  • subheading: LEMON VANILLA GLAZE:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 tablespoon lemon juice may need more
  • splash of vanilla extract
  • Garnish lemon zest & fresh whipped cream
