Ingredients
  • 2 dozen chowder clams
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 1⁄2 cups chopped onions
  • 1 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 1⁄2 cups chopped carrots
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes (I prefer Red Pack)
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 4 potatoes, cubed
  • 1⁄2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 lb cooked jumbo shrimp (add this to make the chowder really great) (optional)
