Instant Pot Chestnuts
Ingredients
  • 1 to 2 pounds chestnuts
  • 4 cups of water
Steps
  1. Place water into insert pot of pressure cooker.
  2. Add chestnuts.
  3. Manual high for 15 minutes.
  4. Natural Pressure Release  for 15 minutes.
  5. When pressure is released, open lid.
  6. Pour contents into a stainless steel colander.
  7. Allow to cool for about 15 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  9. Place chestnuts onto large cutting board.
  10. With a paring knife, cut a medium-size 'X' on the flat side of each nut. Each cut should be about ⅓ to ½ of an inch in length. Do not worry about piercing the flesh.
  11. Place chestnuts on large cookie sheet and transfer to the oven.
  12. Bake 30 minutes.
  13. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. (Do not cover while cooling, as this makes them harder to peel.)
