Instant Pot French Onion Salisbury Steaks
Ingredients
  • subheading: For the patties:
  • Lean ground beef-85/15 works well because it isn’t greasy but has enough fat for flavor
  • Worcestershire sauce-for flavor
  • Panko bread crumbs-you can also use regular bread crumbs or crushed saltine crackers
  • Garlic powder, Italian seasoning, kosher salt, black pepper-for flavor
  • 4 slices of provolone cheese-you can also use another type of cheese
  • subheading: For the gravy:
  • Butter-to slightly sauté the onions
  • Yellow onions-they shrink down a lot
  • Baking soda-it raises the PH of the onions which also assists in speeding up the Maillard reaction (the browning process of onions that gives it that sweet, golden flavor).
  • Water
  • 1 Tbsp Better than Bouillon Beef Base-for savory gravy flavor
  • Worcestershire sauce-for flavor
  • Cornstarch-for thickening the gravy. You can also use arrowroot or flour to thicken.
