Macaroni & Cheese

Ingredients
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 9 T. butter
  • 3 C. macaroni, barely cooked
  • 2 C. cheddar-jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 C. half-and-half
  • 1 C. milk
  • 4 T. dry bread crumbs
  • salt and pepper to taste
Steps
  1. Heat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Cook macaroni for only a couple minutes (it while continue cooking in the oven).
  3. Saute onion in 6 T. butter until tender.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine onion, macaroni, cheese, half-and-half, milk, salt and pepper.
  5. Pour into a greased, 2-quart baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle with dry bread crumbs and dot with remaining 3 T. butter.
  7. Bake for approximately 30 mins, until top is slightly crispy.
