Ingredients
  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 1 cup diced carrot
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 3 cloves garlic crushed
  • 3 cans crushed tomatoes three 14oz / 400g cans
  • 4 tablespoon tomato paste
  • ½ cup dry red wine or vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoon butter or olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey or sugar
  • 3 small bay leaves
  • 2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 cup vegetable broth or water I rinse out the tomato cans and use this as the extra liquid
