Ingredients
  • ½ cup oil (canola or your choice)
  • ½ lb. butter (two sticks)
  • 2 T. molasses
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup honey
  • -----
  • 12 cups or more rolled oats
  • 1 cup raw pumpkin seeds
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds (unsalted)
  • 2 cups chopped almonds (unsalted)
  • Optional add-ins: other nuts, wheat germ, wheat bran, coconut, etc.
Steps
  1. Heat the first 5 ingredients in the microwave, a little at a time, until the butter is melted. Stir well with rubber spatula.
  2. In large bowl mix all the rest of the ingredients. You can adapt all of them!
  3. Mix the melted ingredients in with the dry ingredients and still well. I empty the bowl into three 9 x 13 pans, greasing them first if they aren't too non-stick.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. You have to stir the granola after 10 minutes and then more often after that - every 5 to 7 minutes.
