Basic Seitan

Ingredients
  • 1 ¼c Vital Wheat Gluten
  • ½t salt, msg, or other seasonings
  • 1c water
  • 3T cornstarch
  • 1c vegetable broth
  • OR
  • 1 ½c VWG
  • seasonings
  • 1c water
Steps
  1. 1st Method: Knead VWG and water, then add cornstarch and knead again. It will be clumpy that's ok. Rest 1hr. Fry in oil 2 min each side, then pour in broth, cover, and simmer 30 minutes.
  2. 2nd Method: knead together VWG and water, does not need to rest. simmer in broth, 40 min. then bread (optional) fry or sautee
