Homemade Cherry Pie Filling
Ingredients
  • 4 cups pitted cherries - fresh frozen, or canned
  • 3 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 Tablespoons lemon juice - fresh (use only 1 teaspoon if using canned cherries)
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt (leave out if using canned cherries)
  • ½ cup sugar (use ¼ cup if using canned cherries)
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
