Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter
- 2 ½ cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup cool water
Steps
- Mix together an egg with a tablespoon of water and brush on crust before baking one pie is completely assembled. This will make the crust shine and brown nicely.
- Cut butter into cubes and place in freeze for a few minutes to cool down a bit. Add salt and flour together and stir to mix salt into flour. Then mix butter and flour till pebbly. Add water a bot at a time and mix just till the texture of the dough changes and when you pinch it, it will form a ball and stay together. (Depending on the flour and the weather, you might not need all the water or you might need more -- you don't want a wet dough so be careful! It is best to add the water in batches so you won't end up a dough that is too wet and sticky).
- Bake at 375 F - time depends on recipe for type of pie you are making.
