Instant Pot 5 Spice Boiled Peanuts by Rich Lum
Ingredients
  • ½ cup Hawaiian sea salt
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh cracked peppercorns
  • 1 Tablespoon 5 spice powder
  • Cold Water
  • 1 pound to half a pot full of raw peanuts
Steps
  1. rinse/ clean your raw peanuts
  2. Mix the spices in your pot with 2 cups cold water
  3. Add your peanuts and stir (I only did 1 pound but you can fill your pot about ½ full of peanuts)
  4. Place something on top to keep them submerged. (I used an inverted lotus steamer and placed a bowl on top)
  5. Fill your pot ⅔ with water.
  6. Let them soak for 3 hours then cook on hp for 60 minutes. ( for softer nuts cook for 90 minutes)
  7. Let them stay on keep warm overnight.
  8. Strain the peanuts in a colander and rinse..drain and bag.
  9. I usually make them after dinner and start cooking them when I go to bed

  • Storing
  • They will keep fresh in an air tight container stored in the refrigerator for 7 to 10 days... I store for 7 days Max. Most of the time I eat them all in a couple of days
