Pit Grilled Beef Broccoli with Smoked Rice

Ingredients
  • subheading: MARINADE:
  • ¼ C Soy Sauce
  • ¼ C Oyster Sauce
  • 2 T Dark Soy Sauce
  • 4 tsp Sesame Seed Oil
  • ¼ C Wine
  • 4 T Tapioca Starch
  • 2 T SYD Dry Rub
  •  
  • 1.5 LBS Bottom Sirloin Flat Beef
  • 1 C Jasmine Rice
  • 1.5 C Water for rice
  • Splash of cooking oil for skillet
  • 1 Head Broccoli, use florets only
  • 1 Lg Red Bell Pepper, sliced
  •  
  • subheading: GARNISH:
  • Sesame Seeds (white).
  • Green Onion Slices
Steps
  1. subheading: MARINATE FOR 24-HOURS:
  2. Place beef in a plastic sealable bag, combine all marinade ingredients, mix well and pour over beef; store in frig over-night.
  3. subheading: FOR RICE:
  4. Rinse rice in water; add rice to 2-cup measure and add 1.5 C water
  5. Heat cast iron skillet on top of grill; drizzle 1 to 2 TBS cooking oil; pour rice/water mixture in and spread evenly over surface.
  6. 10 mins - check rice and add ¼ Cup (+/-) water as needed.
  7. 20 mins - rice should be done; remove from grill, cover with aluminum foil.
  8. subheading: FOR BEEF:
  9. Grill beef for about 8-mins for medium rare; remove and let rest.
  10. subheading: FOR VEGGIES:
  11. Place all veg on grill, spray oil over, sprinkle dry rub on top; grill till charred.
Notes
  • For Serving: Slice beef against the grain and mound in middle of rice; next arrange broccoli florets around beef, adding sliced bell pepper; finish dish with sprinkle of sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
