Soft Baked Brown Butter Sugar Cookies
These soft baked brown butter sugar cookies are everything you want in a cookie: tender, soft, chewy, and flavored with rich brown butter. Best of all, this recipe is designed to be super approachable: no dough chilling required and the soft sugar cookie dough is easy to roll in sparkling sugar, nonpareils, or sprinkles!
Ingredients

  • 1 cup ( 224 g) unsalted butter, divided
  • 2 ½ cups ( 350 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp ( 10 g) baking powder
  • ½ tsp ( 3 g) salt
  • 1 ¼ cups ( 250 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg ( 50 g)
  • 1 large egg yolk ( 18 g)
  • 1 tsp ( 4 g) vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup ( 60 g) sour cream, at room temperature

  • ⅔ cup ( 133 g) granulated sugar, sparkling sugar, or nonpareils (see note below)
