the satay sauce recipe:
Ingredients
  • subheading: Ingredients to be grounded:
  • 8 shallots
  • 5 garlic
  • 3 tbsp chilli paste (can be omitted if you want non-spicy)
  • 1 stalk of lemongrass (white part)
  • Thumb size belacan
  •

  • 3 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • some palm sugar
  • 1 tbsp black thick sauce
  • 1.5 tbsp Indo sweet sauce
  • 2 tbsp tamarind juice
  • 100 ml coconut milk
  • 200 ml water
  • 1.5 cups grounded peanuts
Steps
  1. subheading: Directions:
  2. 1. Heat oil and add the grounded ingredients, saute until its fragrant and a bit dry (but not dried).
  3. 2. Add tamarind juice and mix well. Next, add coconut milk and water, bring to boil. Add salt, palm sugar, black thick and sweet sauce and mix it. Bring to boil and simmer for a few minutes.
  4. 3. Lastly, add grounded peanuts, mix well and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes or until its thicken.
  5. * The thickness of the sauce is depend on your preferences, if you want it to be thicker, you may simmer it longer. Otherwise add more water or coconut milk if its too thick *
