Ingredients
  • subheading: J U I C I N G:
  • takes time.....investment in your health
  • BEST JUICER......... 6 main types (see below)  + weigh each on pros/cons
  • HEALTH IMPACT.. eating fruit/veggie alternative.....process removes pulp.....quicker nutrient absorption.....higher fruit/veggie consumption NOT overwhelming gut w/fiber (cuts digestion + allows straight absorption of nutrients into bloodstream without stuffing yourself)
  • note: CAREFUL too much fruit in juice = excess fructose becomes FAT (higher risk of weight gain) .....tough on LIVER (only organ to digest fructose).....fructose spike in bloodstream can cause diabetes
  •
  • BENEFITS..............1. remove toxins.....2. take in more nutrients to regenerate damaged cells.....3. reduce cancer, cardiovascular+inflammatory disease risk.....4. boost immune system.....5. weight loss.....6. no insolulable fiber(easy on the digestive system).....7. solulable fiber retained (cleans inside arteries).....8. pure nutrients go directly to the bloodstream = NATURAL VITAMIN-MINERAL-ENZYME-PHYTONUTRIENT SUPPLEMENT.....9. particularly helpful for specific conditions (e.g. diabetes, cancer, arthritis, immune deficiency, inflammatory disease)
  •
  • BALANCE...............body needs nutrients, calories, glucose, fiber from fruit, vegetables, poultry, meat, fish
  • note: Depriving body of solid food just relying on fresh juice = suffer fatigue, cravings, energy loss, even fainting
  •
  • MAX NUTRIENTS...drink IMMEDIATELY on EMPTY STOMACH = maximize nutrient absorption (will cause passing gas).....the longer juice is exposed to air, all nutrient content, enzymes, phytochemicals will oxidize
  • note: AVOID freshly squeezed juice get warm, because bacteria growth turns it into a harmful drink....can lead to food poisoning
  •
  • STORAGE..............GLASS or SS containers....fill to the BRIM (avoids oxidation from access air)
  •
  • REPLACE FOOD....DO NOT replace solid food with juice.....juice=nature’s food supplement taken 10 to 20 min before meal + helps fill the missing nutrients gaps of regular diet
  •
  • WEIGHT LOSS......fresh juice before meals curbs appetite.....re-calibrates taste buds
  •
  • VARIETY...............be deliberate + research recipes (random ingredients=BIG NO-NO + can make you sick).....combine wrong ingredients can cause chemical reaction that make you sick.....AVOID OLD WILTED PRODUCE.....
  •
  • WASH.................remove pesticides + wax by SOAK at least 5 min in water mixed w/ VINEGAR + SEA SALT
  •
  • DETOX / JUICE ONLY DAYS            maximum 2 days/week..........make sure to have PROTEIN shake before every juice (protein is needed to facilitate absorption of toxins released from fat.......if you are protein deficient during "juice only" fast, the liver gets overwhelmed with toxins and actually starts losing functionality (DANGEROUS, VERY BAD, DO NOT DO THAT)
Steps
  1. subheading: B L E N D I N G   makes Smoothies:
  2. regular + vacuum types  (Vitamix = best regular type)  (Sana = best vacuum type)
  3. vacuum type AVOIDS OXIDATION
  4. Unlike juicing (separates pulp + juice), blending retains everything (you eat the whole fruit/vegetable), except the blending process breaks down fiber into a puree like consistency
  5. need to add water (or other liquid, e.g. almond milk, yoghurt, kefir) lessen thickness of smoothie
  6. easier to digest than whole fruit  -  presence of fiber slows down release of nutrients + helps avoid blood glucose spikes if you happen to make recipes with lots of fruit + helps with cleansing the gut
  7. technically replaces meal because the fiber helps fill you up
  8. high speed blades produce heat which kill some nutrients in the process, e.g. enzymes + phytonutrients +
  9. chlorophyll  +  other micro nutrients
  10. subheading: J U I C I N G   makes Juice:
  11. subheading: Centrifugal:
  12. very fast  -  small batches  -  Oxidizes fast  -  Won’t extract a lot from leafy greens  -  best for hard veggies
  13. shredder + pulp catcher is in the same area + won’t hold a lot of pulp + clogs easy
  14. subheading: Centrifugal ejection:
  15. biggest difference is a centrifugal ejection extractor has a separate container to catch pulp
  16. high rpm (at least 6,000) causes even more oxidation + allows for large batches
  17. subheading: Masticating / slow juicer:
  18. horizontal + vertical types  - larger/smaller footprint  -  pulp expelled different direction
  19. slow rotating auger crush fruit/vegetable against stainless steel screen at low rpm (80 to 100). The slow speed means there will be very little oxidation as it does not suck air in.
  20. Juice flows through screen into container + pulp exits separately into another container
  21. low oxidation  -  takes longer to make juice  -  good for leafy greens  -  no clogging  -  large quantities - versatile (babyfood, sorbets, grinding coffee beans, nuts)
  22. Small feed chute requires more pre-cutting  -  pulpy juice
  23. subheading: Triurating / Twin Gear:
  24. two interlocked gears shred then squeeze juice out of produce
  25. best on leafy greens  -  struggles with fruit  -  requires a lot of pushing  -  pulpy juice  -  versatile (babyfood, sorbets, grinding coffee beans, nuts)  -  leafy greens will produce lots of foam  -  longer to clean because it has more parts
  26. subheading: Champion Juicer:
  27. shreds/not crush  -  spins at around 1725 rpm = high oxidation  -  great on hard and fibrous ingredients  -  not good for leafy greens  -  need to lubricate the stainless steel shaft after every use
  28. subheading: Press Juicer:
  29. ONLY JUICER approved for medical treatment such as cancer  "I prefer Pure Juice over Norwalk" $2500
  30. manual + 2-stage type  -  extract more liquid than any other juicer  -  purest best taste  -  ZERO pulp + foam
  31. STEP 1.  shred fruit/vegetable..... (gently mix pulp with spoon to achieve even mixture  +  place pulp in linen cloth  +  place linen packet into pressing compartment.......... STEP 2.  hydraulic press then squeezes shredded produce packets at over 6000Psi (required to extract juice from vegetables)
  32. least amount of oxidation due to slow shredding speed + no nutritional loss due to no heat in pressing stage (allows for longer storage times in airtight container)
