Ingredients
  • 1 lb. ground chicken sausage
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup diced celery
  • ½ cup diced carrots
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed or finely chopped
  • 2 14-ounce cans (28 ounces) chicken stock
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 package (16 ounce) split peas, rinsed and sorted
  • ¼ teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
  • ½ cup half and half
  • Salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
