Chocolate-Mint Whipped Cream Cake

1 cup hot water

½ cup butter or margarine, softened

1 ¼ cups sugar

2 eggs

1 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

subheading: WHIPPED CREAM FILLING:

1 ½ cups whipping cream

1 tablespoon powdered sugar

2 teaspoons peppermint extract

Green paste food coloring (optional)

subheading: CHOCOLATE FROSTING:

2 (1-ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted

2 cups sifted powdered sugar

2 tablespoons hot water

1 egg white

⅓ cup butter or margarine, softened

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

subheading: MARBLED CHOCOLATE CURLS:

12 ounces chocolate-flavored candy coating (squares, wafers, or morsels)

12 ounces vanilla-flavored candy coating (squares, wafers, or morsels)
