Nepali Kwati Daal (Mixed Lentil Stew)

  • 1 tsp green chilies
  • 1 tbsp garlic , minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger , minced
  • 1 inch ginger , sliced
  • 1 clove garlic , sliced
  • 3 dried red chilies
  • ½ tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 ½ tsp red chili powder , or paprika powder or cayenne pepper
  • 3 tbsp ghee , or oil
  • 3 ¼ cup water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • salt  to taste
