Chocolate chip cookies

Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

The secret...use shortening rather than butter or margarine and don’t bake them too long.

¾ c. shortening

1 c. sugar

1 c. brown sugar, packed

2 eggs, beaten

1 t. vanilla extract

2-½ c. all-purpose flour

1 t. baking soda

1 t. salt

12-oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ c. chopped pecans

Combine shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla in a large bowl; mix well. Add flour, baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes; do not overbake. Remove from baking sheets and cool on wire racks.

Makes 4 to 5 dozen.
