  • Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • The secret...use shortening rather than butter or margarine and don’t bake them too long.
  • ¾ c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 t. vanilla extract
  • 2-½ c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 t. baking soda
  • 1 t. salt
  • 12-oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ c. chopped pecans
  • Combine shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla in a large bowl; mix well. Add flour, baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes; do not overbake. Remove from baking sheets and cool on wire racks.
