  • 370 g basmati rice, (brown or white) rinsed and drained
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 1 pinch ground cumin
  • 453 g chickpeas, (15 ounces) rinsed and drained
  • 72.5 g raisins
  • 73.5 g dates , (pits removed) chopped
  • salt and pepper, to taste
