Ethiopian Hummus
Ingredients
  • 200g cooked chickpeas
  • 80g sunflower seeds
  • 1 lemon zested
  • 3 tblsp lemon juice
  • ½ to 1 inch Jalapeno pepper
  • 2 tblsp Olive Oil
  • 2 garlic cloves
  •  
  • BERBERE SPICE MIX =
  • 10g dried chili peppers (seeds removed)
  • ¼ tsp clove
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • ½ tsp cardamon pods
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 2 tblsp paprika
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
Steps
  1. Soak, cook, drain & cool Chickpeas
  2. Toast Sunflower seeds & cool
  3. Blend Sunflower seeds & add cooked chickpeas & blend
  4. ADD lemon zest + lemon juice + Jalapeno pepper + olive oil + chopped garlic + 1 tsp Berbere spice & blend
  5. Add drops of water to achieve desired consistency, refridgerate & serve cold

  • Sprinkle finished dish with dusting of Berbere spice & toasted sunflower seeds
