Dressel's Chocolate Fudge Whipped Cream Cake
Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 4 tsp vanilla
  • 1 ⅓ cups boiling water
  • ½ cup Hershey’s Special Dark cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 1 ⅓ cups cake flour
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup toasted & ground mixed walnuts & pecans for sides of finished cake
  • subheading: Light Chocolate Buttercream Ingredients:
  • 2 cups room temperature unsalted butter
  • ½ cup vegetable shortening
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 ½ Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 4 Tbsp Dutch-process cocoa powder
  • subheading: Whipped Cream Ingredients:
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ tsp agar agar (NOTE: this is a vegetable derived gelatin agent.)
  • 3 cups Kilgus Farmstead or other non-homogenized heavy cream (closest approximation to what Dressel’s used)
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
