Gingerbread Loaf
Ingredients
  • Melted butter, for greasing
  • 160ml (⅔ cup) treacle
  • 125g butter, cubed
  • 125g (¾ cup, lightly packed) brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 225g (1 ½ cups) plain flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon mixed spice
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 eggs
  • Soft butter (optional), to serve
