Aunt Maurine's Baked Beans
Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef (browned & drained)
  • ½ cup chopped onions
  • ½ cup diced celery
  • 1 small can of tomato sauce
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 Tbsp. vineger
  • 1 tsp. powdered mustard
  • 1 tsp. crushed thyme
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • ketchup and molasses to taste
  • 1 large can (31 oz.) Van Camp Pork and Beans
Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Brown ground beef. Drain. Set aside.
  3. Sauté onions & celery in a little butter until onions are clear.
  4. Combine beef, onions and the rest of the ingredients in a large pot.
  5. Cook over Medium/High heat.
  6. If your pot isn’t oven safe then pour beans into a baking dish and cover.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
Notes
  • We eat as a side dish with our holiday ham.
