Ingredients
  • 1 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, at room temperature soft but not melted
  • ½ cup softened butter, at room temperature
  • 2 ½ to 3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract/ essence
  •  
  • 1 tsp lemon juice ( optional ) I love it.. As it cuts the sweetness of the frosting
  •  
  • ¼ tsp salt.. Only if u are using unsalted butter.
Steps
  1. use electric mixer or stand mixer - beater attachment and not whipper-
  2. Beat the butter on medium setting  3 to 4 mins until it's light in color , fluffy and creamy...add in cream cheese  ..beat it 1 to 2 mins until blended and smooth..add salt , vanilla extract, lemon juice..  gradually add the powdered sugar ¼ cup at a time on the lowest speed..Use 2 ½cups  sugar first.
  3. Beat until frosting ingredients are completely combined. Check the consistency at this point. If it seems too soft, go ahead and add a little more sifted powdered sugar. After ingredients are blended . Beat it on high for a minute.. Viola .. U have the creamiest frosting ever .
  4. Sometimes due to weather conditions frostings tend to thin out.. Don't worry  Pop it in the fridge for 10 to 15 mins..
  5. And it will be perfect pipe able consistency
  6. Tint it in the color u like..
  7. You can always create your own flavor variations !!!
  8. The recipe can be easily doubled .
  9. Use the frosting to frost your cake or cupcakes , cookies , brownies etc
  10. Always store cream cheese frosted goodies in d fridge.
