Ingredients
  • 12-inch pizza crust
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil (if needed) + Additional olive oil or softened butter for brushing the crust
  • 4 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup sliced onion
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • 1 cup chopped fresh spinach
  • 8 oz of pizza cheese
  • 4 oz ground italian sausage
  • 10 sliced pepperoni
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • ½ cup chopped roma tomato
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (Optional)
Steps
  1. subheading: Italian Sausage:
  2. Cook the italian sausage in a saute pan over medium-high heat until browned
  3. Reserving the fat in the pan, remove the sausage and drain on paper towel
  4. Set aside for later
  5. subheading: Mushroom and onion mixture:
  6. Using the pan the italian sausage was cooked in, turn the heat to medium and ensure appx 1 to 1.5 Tbsp worth of fat/oil is in the pan
  7. Add the mushrooms and onions and saute for a few minutes
  8. Lightly season the mushrooms with salt and pepper
  9. Continue sauteing until the mushrooms are softened and the onions are translucent
  10. When finished, remove from the pan and set aside
  11. subheading: Forming the Pizza:
  12. Begin by brushing the crust with olive oil or softened butter
  13. Place the spinach on the crust then top with the cheese
  14. Place the pepperoni on top of the cheese, evenly distributing the slices
  15. Sprinkle on the italian sausage
  16. Distribute the onion and mushroom mixture over the meats and cheese
  17. Cover the toppings with a layer of pizza sauce. More than 1 cup may be needed to fully cover the toppings.
  18. Sprinkle the chopped tomato over the sauce.
  19. If desired, sprinkle crushed red pepper on top of the sauce and tomatoes.
  20. Bake the pizza until the cheese is melted use the directions for the pizza crust used as a guideline
Notes
  • You can make this a "normal" pizza by flipping the order of toppings and reducing the amount of pizza sauce used
