Ingredients
  • Hot Tamale Balls Ingredients for the balls: 1 lb ground beef, 1 lb hot Jimmy Dean Sausage, 1 ½ cup cornmeal, 2 tablespoons chili powder, 2 tablespoons cumin, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp cayenne pepper, ¾ cup vegetable juice cocktail (V8), ½ cup all-purpose flour, 4 gloves garlic, minced. FOR SAUCE: 5 cups of vegetable juice cocktail, 1 tablespoon chili powder, 1 tablespoon cumin, 2 tsp. salt. In a large bowl combine all ingredients for the balls and mix well. Best to mix with your hands so all ingredients are evenly distributed throughout. Shape mixture into 1 ½ in balls. Mix ingredients for sauce and mix well. Pour the sauce over the tamale balls and bake at 300 degrees for 2 hours or until cooked through, stirring gently after 1 ½ hours. Pictured are raw tamale balls, planning on cooking tomorrow.
