These macaroons are ultra-coconut-y and pleasingly chewy, with just the right amount of sweetness. I dipped a few of the macaroons in chocolate for a little extra pizazz.

  • 5 cups (20 ounces) sweetened shredded coconut
  • 6 large egg whites
  • ½ cup (3 ½ ounces) sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
