When my husband and I first moved in together, I asked him what his favorite staples were to have in the fridge. He told me a “lovely” story about how he and his buddies used to buy big jars of applesauce from Aldi. They’d get them ice-cold by placing them in the back of the fridge. A few days later, they would drink them like juice. Ummm, yuck? Or ummm, yum? I couldn’t decide. It was genius but so “frat-boy” in nature.
I decided to create something that would use the applesauce in an actual meal instead of a juice substitute. He loved it, I did too and I made it a few more times (once in the slow cooker) but I hadn’t made it again. Don’t remember why. Oh yeah, we had a wedding and then a kid~~
