Sausage: IP Brian's Sausage and Cabbage

Ingredients
  • ½ tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound polish sausage, sliced into half moons
  • ½ cup onion, diced
  • 1 small head of cabbage, cut up (about 4 to 5 cups)
  • 1 to 2 smallish potatoes, diced
  • ½ (10-ounce) can Rotel (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seed
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon beef soup base
Steps
  1. Heat olive oil in frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Slice the polish sausage in half lengthwise then slice cross ways into ½-inch slices. Add to hot oil and brown well, turning at least once.
  3. When sausage is almost done. add onions to pan and saute to soften.
  4. While sausage and onions are sauteing add cabbage, diced potatoes, Rotel and seasonings to IP liner pot.
  5. Dissolve beef soup base in water and pour over cabbage in pot.
  6. When done, add sausage and onions to pot.
  7. Lid pot, set to Manual 5 minutes. Be sure vent is closed.
  8. When done, NPR at leas 5 minutes or just let it sit on Keep Warm.
  9. Serve it up!
