Ingredients
- 7C water
- 1⁄2C white sugar
- 4 bags plain black tea
- 1C kombucha (minimally flavored)
Steps
- Heat 3C of water to boiling, dissolve the sugar in it.
- Remove from heat. Add tea bags. Cover and let steep at least 20 minutes.
- Transfer to a VERY CLEAN brewing crock. Add the remaining 4C. Cover and let cool to room temperature
- Add the kombucha. Cover top of crock with several clean towels
- Place somewhere dark and room temperature
- Wait 2 to 4 weeks until a 1⁄4 inch (at least) scoby has formed
Notes
- Don’t use decaf tea, green/herbal tea, or flavored teas. The most basic black tea is best.
- Only use white sugar, no other sweeteners.
