Ingredients
  • 12 oven ready lasagna noodles
  • Two 210g packets mozzarella cheese slices (or 4 cups shredded mozzarella) or try cheddar cheese - this is what Lauren uses
  • ¾ cup parmesan cheese
  • subheading: Tomato Sauce:
  • ½ pound lean ground beef
  • ½ pound sweet Italian sausage (hot Italian sausage is good too)
  • 1 onion diced
  • 4 to 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can mushrooms could be nice (optional)
  • Two 398ml cans of tomato sauce (398ml = 13.45oz) or approximately 6 cups *see note
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¾ teaspoon salt *see note
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ⅛ teaspoon fennel seeds (optional)
  • subheading: Cheese Mixture:
  • 16 ounces ricotta cheese or cottage cheese
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley chopped or 2 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 1 egg
