Grandma Nell's Poppyseed Cake
Ingredients
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1-½ cups oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1-½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 14-ounce can evaporated milk
  • 1 can Solo poppyseed filling
Steps
  1. Sift dry ingredients.  Add liquids and mix until smooth.  Then add 1 can of poppyseed filling.  Beat well for 2 minutes.
  2. Use an angel food tube pan.  Do not grease the pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until tested done.  Lightly sprinkle (or if you are my daughter, Megan, coat it really good) powdered sugar on top.
Notes
  • Use aluminum foil to cover if it becomes too dark on top.
  • This is a Deel family favorite.  No family get together is allowed without one of these cakes.
