Cheeseburger Pie
loading...
X
My mom used to make this in the 1960s/1970s. I've made it from then until the present. To be honest, it's really more like "Italian Pie", given the seasonings used. There is a "Cheeseburger Pie" recipe on the Pillsbury website that has ketchup, pickle relish, etc. that is probably more "cheeseburgery", but the recipe I share here was in our local newspaper back in the 1960s, and I've kept it as written and as named.
Ingredients
- 1 Can Crescent Rolls
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 6 oz can tomato paste
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ tsp ground black pepper
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 T sugar
- 1 T diced onion
- 1 to 2 C shredded Mozzarella cheese
Steps
- Piece together Crescent Rolls to form a crust in an 8 to 9" pie pan. I prefer using a glass pie pan.
- Press all the seams together so there are no leaks.
- Brown the ground beef. Drain.
- Return the browned beef to the skillet.
- Add remaining ingredients EXCEPT the Mozzarella cheese.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Put into the pie crust that you made and top with the shredded cheese.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Let sit for five minutes. Serve.
