Al Pastor Sauce (vegan) (oil-free) (gluten-free)
Ingredients
  • 4 dried ancho chiles
  • 1 cup hot water
  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp oregano powder
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • ½ tsp cilantro powder
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp salt

Steps
  1. Toast the chiles in a dry pan until they begin to smell fragrant and smoke a little
  2. Soak toasted chiles in 1 cup hot water for 30 minutes
  3. Remove stems from chilies and place all ingredients in blender, including the chile soak water
  4. Blend until very smooth
Notes
  • Use this sauce like you would bbq sauce. My favorite way is to pour it over vegetable (potato, carrot or squash and bake in a covered dish until the veg is soft.
