Liz's Shanghai Pork Chops

Ingredients
  • 3 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 medium-large yellow or sweet onion thinly sliced
  • Additional vegetable oil if rendered pork fat isn't sufficient
Steps
  1. Mix soy sauce, brown sugar and ¼ cup water in a measuring cup and reserve.
  2. Brown chops on both sides. Remove from pan.
  3. Add thinly sliced onion and brown.
  4. Add back the pork chops and pour in liquid mixture.
  5. Cover and cook on medium-low heat for approx. 10 minutes
  6. Uncover and turn the chops cookiing for 5 more minutes.
