Wendy's Chili Recipe (Copycat)
Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons neutral oil, such as grapeseed or canola
  • 1 ¼ pounds ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced (about 2 cups)
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped (about ½ cup)
  • 1 medium jalapeño, seeds removed and finely chopped (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 ( 15- ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 ( 15- ounce) cans diced tomatoes, not drained
  • 1 ( 10- ounce) can diced tomatoes and green chilis, such as Ro-Tel, not drained
  • 2 ( 15- ounce) cans red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 ( 15- ounce) can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 ( 15- ounce) can Great Northern or cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • Crumbled saltines and hot sauce, such as Tabasco, for serving
