Apple Butter. Slow Cooker
Ingredients
  • Apple Butter (Slow Cooker)
  •  
  • • 5 lb bag of apples (20 small or 15 medium or 10 large size)
  • • ½ cup water
  • • ½ cup brown sugar
  • • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • • ¼ tsp. cloves
  • • ½ tsp. nutmeg
  •  
  • 1. Peel and slice apples, place in a large 6 quart size slow cooker. (a combination of 2 or more apples like Fuji, Gala, Red Delicious, or Honeycrisp apples give a more complex flavour)
  •  
  • 2. Combine water, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg and then sprinkle all of this over the apples.

  • 3. Cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours, stirring occasionally. To get really smooth and creamy apple butter, process with an immersion blender until thoroughly mixed after the cooking time is done and has cooled down a bit.

  • 4. Spoon into clean mason jars with lid ajar, allow to cool completely and thicken up. Then seal with the lids and place in your refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze for up to 6 months.

  • 》Stir it into oatmeal or over ice cream.
  • 》Top your pancakes, waffles or french toast with it.
  • 》Use it instead of pumpkin or applesauce in recipes.
  • 》Set out a bowl with a cheese plate.
  • 》Swirl it into cakes or cupcakes.
  • 》Brush it on chicken or pork during the last few cooking minutes.
