Kitchari -- Ayervedic version. neesh-noosh
easy “One-pot” style dish to prepare that is incredibly flavorful and delicious.

sub other whole grain
Ingredients
  • 1 cup basmati brown rice
  • 1 cup orange lentils
  • large piece of chopped ginger or tumeric-ginger
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp coriander
  • ½ tsp coriander seeds
  • ½ tsp (or lots more) tumeric (if you don’t use the piece of ginger-tumeric)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: ½ to 1.5 cup vegetables (I used peas and thinly sliced carrots. Spinach, pumpkin, kale, beets and beetgreens, would also be a good options).
  • note: Note: Tumeric stains, and is especially hard to remove from clothing!
