Choclate Pani Puri

Ingredients
Steps
- Hi Girls,
- Here is my recipe for the much talked about “Chocolate Pani Puri”
- Coating the Pani Puri with Chocolate
- Method 1
- Temper the chocolate.
- I used semi sweet morsels. Microwave 1 cup of semi sweet morsels in a clean and dry microwave safe bowl for 1 minute. Remove and keep stirring till it forms a smooth n even melting chocolate consistency. U can also use the instructions mentioned on the chocolate packet u use for melting. Dip the pani puris and rotate so all sides are covered in chocolate. Use a fork so the excess drips off. Line a parchment paper in a tray and place the pani puri on it to dry. The puri wont get soggy. Once the chocolate coating is done, the covering becomes strong and u need a spoon to poke a hole in it while serving. U wont be able to poke it with slight pressure from fingers. U can put it in the fridge too for drying. But I didn’t feel the need to do that. It was drying fine outside at room temperature too. After 5 mins it will be completely dry to touch. Repeat the process for other puris. I could coat about 10 to 12 puris in 1 cup of morsels. You batch is ready for serving. It can be done few days in advance and kept ready for your party.
- Method 2
- Temper the chocolate using Shortening.
- Same method of melting, but add a little shortening before u place the bowl in the microwave for melting. Both the method works well. During summer time, the chocolate melts a little, so adding vegetable shortening helps to quickly dry and keeping it from melting at room tempature.
- If u feel that while coating, the layer is very thick on the puri, than dip it once and spread the chocolate around using ur fingers to coat it evenly. That way u will have thin coating on the puris.
- Serving
- Chop fresh fruits (Strawberry and Kiwi are a must. But u can add apple or pear too. They usually oxidize, so I personally prefer strawberry n kiwi) preferable just before serving or an hour before. That way they wont release water and make ur puri soggy. If u have to cut before hand, than I would suggest to keep the cut fruits in a sieve on top of a box and keep in the fridge. That way the water will ooze out and ur fruits will be cold will serving.
- Keep the Vanilla Ice cream in the fridge in a bowl, so it melts down and has watery consistency, but is cold.
- While serving, poke a hole in the chocolate pani puri, add the chopped fresh fruits and fill the puri with melted vanilla ice cream and enjoy the mouthful of heaven….
- Best served cold. Mix of strawberries, kiwi and/or apple is an awesome combination to serve. Chocolate with fruits and vanilla is itself a awesome combo. It gives a khatta meetha thanda feel in the mouth. Enjoy…
