Although I’ve never made this recipe from my mother-in-law's collection, it looks like some type of brownie or fudge recipe. It is written on the back of letterhead from the Free Public Library of Ocean City, New Jersey, Librarian Anne G. Schofield.
Ingredients
  • ½ lb. unsalted butter
  • 4 squares bitter chocolate
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ c. flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • nuts
Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 250 to 275° F.
  2. Melt butter & chocolate together.
  3. Allow to cool slightly.
  4. In the meantime, beat together sugar & eggs.
  5. Stir chocolate mixture into sugar-eggs; then beat in flour & vanilla.
  6. Put mixture into large square pan & sprinkle nuts over top.
  7. Bake for 1-hr.
  8. Cut into squares while hot, but don’t remove from pan till cold
