Sausage potato chowder
Ingredients
  • 1 lb hot pork sausage
  • ½cup water
  • 2 ½ cups peeled diced potatoes
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • ½ cup chopped celery
  • 1 ½ cups chicken broth
  • ⅛ tsp pepper
  • 3 ½ cups milk
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Steps
  1. Brown sausage stirring so that meat is in small pieces
  2. Set aside
  3. In a large pot put water,potatoes,onion,celery,broth and pepper cover and bring to a boil long enough so that potatoes are tender,about 5 minutes
  4. Add sausage and 2 ½ cups of milk
  5. In a jar with lid , shake the flour and remaining milk until blended, stir into potato mixture,stirring constantly until mixture begins to boil
  6. Add peas, simmer about 3 minutes
  7. Remove from heat stir in cheese until melted
Notes
  • We cook it longer after we put the peas in to make them softer
