Smokey Lima Beans with Ham (Instant Pot)
Ingredients
  • 1 2 pound bag of Large Lima Beans
  • 1 1 pound smoked Ham Steak
  • 12 cups of water ( I have an 8 quart pot)
  • ⅛ cup of liquid smoke (hickory flavor)
  • Onion powder and Garlic powder to taste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Steps
  1. Put beans in a colander and rinse well. I did not let them soak.
  2. Pour beans and 12 cups of water in Pressure cooker. I have an 8 quart.
  3. Open package of ham steak and pour the liquid in with beans.
  4. Cut the ham steak in chunks and add to pot.
  5. Add onion and garlic powder and pepper. Don't add salt yet.
  6. Put on lid and push Bean Botton for 25 min.
  7. Do NR for 5 min and then quick release.
  8. Take lid off add salt and smoke flavor.
  9. Taste and add garlic, onion powders, salt, pepper, & smoke flavor to liking.
  10. Push sauté button on normal and let boil for 10 min.
  11. Press cancel button and then press Sauté button and adjust to low and let beans simmer
  12. until the juice thickens. About 20 to 30 min.
